Located at the southeastern end of the Korean Peninsula, Gyeongsangnam-do borders on Busan and Ulsan on the east, Dalseong in Daegu and Cheongdo, Goryeong, Seongju, and Gimcheon in Gyeongsangbuk-do on the north.

And on the west, it borders on Muju, Jangsu and Namwon in Jeollabuk-do on one side of the Sobaeksanmaek Mountain Range and Gurye and Gwangyang in Jeollanam-do on the other side of the Sobaeksanmaek Mountain Range.

Gyeongsangnam-do ranges from 34°29' N to 35°54' N, and from 127°35'E to 129°13'E. The total area is 10,518.3km2, which is 10.5% of the total area of South Korea and the 4th largest province in the country following Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gangwon-do, and Jeollanam-do.
